Electronic Waste   

BWS is the only participant to the Basel Action Network (BAN) in Maryland.

BWS has committed to the Electronic Recycler’s Pledge of True Stewardship. This BAN e-waste disposal protocol is the “Gold Standard” of environmental protection. 100% of the computer material handled by BWS is subject to this protocol and recovered for beneficial reuse. Because of our tight administrative controls, BWS guarantees a ZERO landfill policy for ALL of the e-waste we handle. No grade of component material risks being diverted into landfills or exported to developing countries, either directly or through intermediaries.

BWS provides HIPAA compliant Data Destruction services. These services can be applied to individual units or as a standard for a generator’s entire electronic waste profile. Electronic waste handled under this program is searched for data and all data is either destroyed by reformatting or physical destruction (grinding) – whichever methodology preferred by the generator.

Charitable donation of waste electronics is available. BWS has partnered with a recycling facility providing valuable training to disadvantaged youths and adults in East Baltimore. Our partner reconditions qualifying computer hardware, including reformatting and installing a Microsoft Windows operating system, and then donates 100% of it to Baltimore City Schools, local charities and as part of its volunteer development program.
