Why Recycling is Important

Apr 7, 2017

Earth Day is this month, and as such recycling is at the top of everyone’s mind. Here at BWS, recycling is actually always at the top of our minds because it is an integral part of our business. Being in the industry, we’ve come to know a lot about it. Here are few reasons why recycling is important.

Why Recycling is Important

Recycling Saves the Environment

The most obvious benefit of recycling is that it helps to reduce our impact on the environment—but how exactly? The process of mining, transporting, and manufacturing the raw materials and components which make up recyclable items creates pollution and is taxing on the environment. Recycling also reduces the use and need of landfills which take up not only valuable space, but also have a by-product of leeching dangerous pollutants into the surrounding area.

Recycling Saves Money

Money is spent to harvest and transport raw materials. If we all were to begin recycling more, it would reduce the cost it takes to mine, transport, and manufacture some of these recyclable materials. If a company saves money, that will make it easier for that company to lower their costs. Which, means you could save money the next time you go and purchase something.

Recycling Creates Jobs

The process of recycling materials is a little more involved than the process of storing something at a landfill. As such, it requires a few more workers to operate an effective recycling facility, which means by recycling you’re creating jobs right here in the United States. The alternative is mining raw materials in other countries to be transported here.
